Department of Special Education
The Brenham Independent School District Special Education Department provides a wide variety of Special Education services to more than 600 students throughout the district. 

Approximately 118 teachers, instructional paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists and related services personnel provide instructional and related services to students who have a disability.  Students are eligible for Special Education services from the ages of 3 through 21.  Students with hearing and/or vision disabilities may receive services from birth.

To be eligible for Special Education services, students must meet eligibility requirements in the areas of orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, auditory impairment, visual impairment, diagnosis of deaf/blind, intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, learning disability, speech impairment, multiple disabilities, autism, non-categorical early childhood, or traumatic brain injury.  Students must also demonstrate an educational need for Special Education services.

Brenham ISD Special Education instructional arrangements include various levels of inclusive support, speech therapy and other related services, Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), Positive Intervention/Adjustment Classes (PIC/PAC), academic intervention (Resource), Life Skills classes, and vocational classes.
